Position Overview
The Legal Clerk Team Lead is responsible for overseeing a team of Legal Clerks that are performing administrative tasks to support the Legal and Operations teams with the in-office aspects of case flows for all phases in the case handling process. This is individual must have a proven track record of success in meeting deadlines and managing time and has the ability to lead and advise a team of Legal Clerks by providing training, guidance, and performance management. The Team Lead ensures the team operates efficiently, maintains high-quality standards, and delivers an exceptional client experience. This candidate must be fluent in English, both speaking and writing; prefer bilingual in Spanish.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
Supervise and mentor a team of Legal Clerks by providing guidance, support, performance management, and payroll to ensure high levels of productivity and morale
Oversee and support team member’s training and development
Track key performance indicators (KPI’s) for Legal Clerks and report back to the team on strengths and areas of opportunity
Facilitate team meetings and 1:1’s to review questions and share any process updates
Ensure team members are supporting required tasks necessary for cases and adhering to set deadlines
Review and audit documents and case packets submitted by Legal Clerks to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with legal requirements
Accountable for overseeing the mail processing process including sorting process and action taken based on type, priority, and client
Serve as the primary point of escalation for unique or highly complex situations
Develop, implement and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) using internal feedback from team members and external guidance from leadership
Essentials Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Possesses excellent English interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; prefer bilingual in Spanish
High level of accuracy in reviewing legal documents, overseeing files and ensuring team member’s compliance with legal standards
Exceptional ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines
Ability to identify and address issues as they arise
Minimum Qualifications
Highschool diploma or equivalent experience
Previous leadership experience preferred
Previous legal assistance or immigration law experience required
Previous customer service or office experience required
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software including Dropbox, Sharepoint, or CRM
