What You Will Be Doing:
Manage and lead the Litigation Unit within the Legal Department, reporting to the General Counsel.
The role requires fluency in Arabic and exclusive litigation experience in the banking sector.
What We Are Looking For:
The candidate should have appropriate skills in undertaking all related litigation work, including:
Manage the litigation unit within the Legal Department and all caselaw (Commercial, Bankruptcy, Insolvency, Mortgage Enforceable, Civil, and Labor Court) involving the Bank.
Have specialised experience in litigation work including review of all case documents (statements of claim, defence memoranda, attendance of expert meetings, review of expert reports and all other documents relating to the caselaw).
Full knowledge of all relevant laws and regulations that pertain to the legal practice, including being up to date on all changes in the relevant laws.
Managing and overseeing the work of external counsels and continuously assessing their work and deliverables. Following up with external lawyers to ensure their regular attendance at Court proceedings, speed up the Court cases and get regular case-updates in relation to the cases assigned.
Keeping litigation costs in check and having the ability to assign the caselaw to the relevant external counsels depending on the facts of each case and the technical expertise of each counsel.
Provide prompt, accurate and sound legal advice to all relevant departments and branches.
Have inter-personal skills to manage the personnel of the litigation unit, reviewing their work, giving them guidance where necessary to raise team effectiveness.
Draft and review various agreements and legal documents as relates to the litigation work to keep the bank’s position protected.
Have the ability to negotiate on behalf of the bank with customers’ and defendants’ lawyers including on settlement options and report to management as necessary (whether in person or otherwise).
Investigate issues affecting the group operations, prepare reports and help correct and find solutions for problems.
Carry out all legal tasks for the Bank, ensuring all activities are completed within timelines and with a high degree of accuracy, whilst providing excellent customer service to both external and internal customers, and adhering to all appropriate process and procedures.
Ensure all legal documents comply with policy, procedures, standards and reporting requirements, along with any relevant regulatory and statutory requirements.
Identify and initiate improvements to legal work, customer service, quality, work processes and organisational matters to contribute to business efficiency goals.
Gather data, collate information, produce and submit reports to management to ensure the accuracy and timely delivery of information to management as required.
Develop good working relationships with all other units withing the bank.
Any other legal matters as may be assigned by the General Counsel from time to time.
