Piper Maddox are supporting our client as they hire a Associate Transactional Counsel based in Houston to play a central role in expanding their portfolio of land for energy assets across the US. As one of the nations leading land owners and capital providers, this platform are incredibly successful and marks a period of continued growth within the business.
You will support the various divisions within the business (finance, development, asset management etc.) you will have real impact on the platform. This role is perfect for an junior attorney to develop a deep understanding of real estate transactions and have hands on impact an critical infrastructure projects.
What you will do:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, service agreements, nondisclosure agreements (NDAs), and licensing agreements.
- Assist in due diligence processes and other corporate transactions.
- Research and analyze legal issues related to contracts, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., finance, operations, and procurement) to facilitate smooth transaction workflows.
- Maintain organized records of contracts and legal documents for easy retrieval and reference.
- Support senior counsel in preparing materials for board meetings, shareholder communications, or other corporate needs.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- 1-3 years of legal experience (internships, clerkships, or relevant law school experience considered).
- Strong understanding of contract law and basic corporate law principles.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative team player with a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Prior exposure to transactional or corporate law through coursework, internships, or clinics is a plus.
