ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Associate Aviation Attorney will work with administrative law principles and the regulation of airman medical certificates. The position is heavily focused on writing comprehensive legal reports and appeals to the Federal Aviation Administration (“FAA”) and National Transportation Safety Board (“NTSB”). The candidate will be trained to draft submissions that strike an appropriate tone, consider the client/airman’s medical standing in comparison to the FAA’s regulatory standards, and advocate for the issuance of a medical certificate. The Associate Aviation Attorney will report directly to the Director of Aviation and the Certificate Defense Attorney Manager.
As an Associate Aviation Attorney, you should expect to:
Draft and submit reports and appeals to the FAA advocating on behalf of pilots/clients applying for medical certification.
Research, analyze, and remain current on NTSB and Federal case law.
Research and analyze federal regulations governing the administration of aviation medical certificates and medical standards.
Research and analyze dynamic FAA policies, guidelines, and procedures in relation to each client’s medical condition(s), safety concerns, and certification viability.
Review, identify, and analyze client medical records addressing a wide range of medical issues.
Handle a docket of cases with attorney oversight and assistance from support staff.
Review and execute the detailed case plan from the Attorney Manager for every client to meet deadlines and efficiently progress through cases.
Answer client questions, discuss case plans, and keep clients up to date.
Research and draft memorandum and various correspondence on legal issues involving aviation.
Maintain and organize paperless files.
Excel in a paperless environment.
Document all your work in the system.
Assist Director of Aviation and Attorney Manager as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school (Required).
Licensed to practice law and in good standing with state bar (Required, CO preferred).
Admission to US District Court (Required, U.S. District Court of CO preferred).
0-2 years of experience practicing law (Newly licensed attorneys preferred).
Psychology degree (B.S. or B.A.), preferred.
Aviation experience preferred.
Excellent research and writing skills.
Great time and case management skills.

Pay: $52,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year
