A Day in the Life of an Associate Attorney

As a medical malpractice Associate at Morrison Mahoney LLP, your role is dynamic and engaging, offering a perfect mix of independent responsibilities and collaborative teamwork. You will manage your own caseload from inception to resolution, drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests while meticulously adhering to deadlines. Your days will be enriched by preparing for and attending depositions, hearings, and trials, granting you invaluable courtroom experience. Collaboration is crucial in this role, where you’ll engage closely with clients, experts, and fellow attorneys to devise effective litigation strategies. Clear and regular communication with clients will be essential, as you provide them with updates and interim written reports on their cases.

What Matters Most

To succeed as an Associate Attorney (Medical Malpractice) – Boston, MA, you will need a robust set of skills and qualifications.

A Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to the Massachusetts State Bar, are essential prerequisites.
3 to 5 years of medical malpractice experience.
Proficiency in drafting and arguing dispositive motions, along with the ability to perform legal research and respond to discovery requests, is crucial.
You should be a self-starter and have at least two (2) years of trial experience in Massachusetts state and federal courts.
You will assist in mediations, arbitrations, trials and hearings, requiring strong advocacy skills.
Taking and defending fact witness and expert depositions will also be part of your role, making attention to detail and effective communication are key attributes for success in this position.

Areas of focus will include Hospital and Medical Malpractice, Nursing Home / Long-Term Care Facilities, Products Liability, Professional Liability, Tort and Liability Defense.
