Job Summary
Small law firm specializing in consumer litigation and bankruptcy litigation is seeking a part time legal assistant. The entry level position is one that requires assistance be provided to a paralegal, an associate attorney, and a partner for: (1) case intake (45%), (2) case resolution (45%); and (3) litigation/other (10%). Successful candidates are those individuals with a quick learning curve and a strong work ethic who have good judgment and are reliable and dependable. We are looking for candidates with strong communication, organizational, highly effective proofreading skills, superb attention to detail, and who are adept at word processing, monitoring deadlines, and data entry. Applicants must have the ability to follow established processes and procedures but who also can, when necessary, work and think independently . Applicants should have some basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel). Applicants must also be able to read small print-both on paper and on screens and must be able to listen to, decipher, and summarize audio files. Hours Mon-Fri may vary. Most days the hours would be from approximately 8 am to 12 pm; but some days the hours would be 10-2; and some days the hours would be 12-4 (Mon-Fri)-the hours depend in large part on when the bankruptcy court trustee has his or her 341 meeting of creditors for the week. Compensation is based on experience and education, but this is an entry level position.
