An established and growing boutique law firm in downtown Vancouver is seeking an Associate Lawyer (3-7 year call) to join its expanding practice. The firm focuses primarily on Family Law and Estate Law and offers a collaborative, client-focused environment with strong mentorship from senior counsel.
This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to build a long-term career in family and/or estate law. Candidates from other practice areas with a genuine interest in transitioning into these areas are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and assist with family law and estate law files from intake through resolution
- Meet with clients, witnesses, opposing counsel, experts, and other stakeholders
- Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions, arguments, and case strategies
- Draft pleadings, agreements, court materials, correspondence, and related legal documents
- Assist senior counsel with negotiations, mediations, discoveries, hearings, and trials
- Attend court appearances and advocate on behalf of clients
- Maintain organized file management and ensure deadlines are met
- Deliver high-quality client service with a practical and empathetic approach
Qualifications
- LLB or JD degree
- Called to the Bar of British Columbia
- 3 to 7 years of post-call experience preferred
- Experience in Family Law and/or Estate Law is considered a strong asset
- Candidates from other areas of law with strong interest in these practice areas are welcome
- Excellent drafting, research, and analytical skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Courtroom experience or a desire to attend hearings and develop advocacy skills
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when required
