Seeking an associate lawyer with experience in criminal law.

The successful candidate will support our busy criminal practice by assisting with bail hearings, guilty pleas, and the conduct of preliminary inquiries and trials on behalf of our clients. Courtroom advocacy, legal research, and written advocacy skills are essential.

The candidate must be able to commute to our office and the main regional courthouse in downtown St. Catharines daily.

Qualifications

1-2+ years of Canadian criminal law experience, including bail hearings, guilty pleas, and trials

Licensed to practice law in Ontario by the Law Society of Ontario

Desired Competencies

Knowledge of criminal law and procedure, including the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms

Professionalism

Self-motivated with good docketing skills

Sound judgment, decision-making, critical thinking, and adaptability

Teamwork, leadership, and initiative, with a focus on practice and file management

Oral and written advocacy skills

Compensation

Salary will be determined based on experience and qualifications, ranging from $85,000 to $130,000 per year.

Must reliably commute or plan to relocate to St. Catharines, ON before starting.
