Role Description
This is a full-time role for an Associate Lawyer at Mer Gen Law in Calgary, AB, with
flexibility
for some
remote work
. The Associate Lawyer will be responsible for providing legal advice and representation to clients, as well as conducting legal research and drafting legal documents. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years experience with Wills and Estates or Corporate-Commercial practice areas.
Responsibilities Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on a wide range of legal matters, specifically Adult Guardianship & Trusteeship, Estate Planning, Estate Administration/Probate and/or Corporate and Commercial matters, specifically related to acquistions or sales of privately held companies in Alberta.
Conduct legal research using various resources
Draft and review legal documents
Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations that may affect clients’ interests
Maintain accurate and organized case files and documentation using practice management (Clio) and
document management
(Net Documents) software.
Manage inquiries assigned and conduct sales as well as business development activities on behalf of the firm.
Qualifications At least 5 years of Canadian experience in Wills, Estates, Small Business, or Residential Real Estate.
Excellent written and verbal
communication skills
Keen interest in legal technologies. Strong analytical and research skills
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team Active Alberta Bar membership
Attention to detail
and time management skills
Skills and experience in business development and networking
