Location: Hartford, CT — Hybrid flexibility is available, offering the opportunity to work with our team in person while maintaining some flexibility.

Note: Must have an active Massachusetts Bar license in good standing and 2+ years of directly relevant Massachusetts plaintiff personal injury litigation experience, including meaningful hands-on experience in Massachusetts courts.

Job Description

  • Manage a substantial caseload of approximately 70 to 100 plaintiff personal injury files from intake and pre-suit through settlement, trial, and resolution.
  • Evaluate liability, damages, medical evidence, and overall litigation strategy.
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other litigation documents.
  • Prepare for and conduct depositions, including defending depositions when appropriate.
  • Handle written discovery and ensure timely, accurate responses.
  • Attend court hearings and argue motions in Massachusetts courts.
  • Represent clients in mediations and settlement negotiations.
  • Develop cases for trial and serve as first-chair trial counsel when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with experts, investigators, medical providers, clients, paralegals, and other legal professionals.
  • Supervise and mentor litigation paralegals and support staff.
  • Monitor deadlines and ensure compliance with Massachusetts court rules, filing requirements, discovery obligations, and litigation procedures.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Massachusetts Bar admission and good standing.
  • 2+ years of plaintiff personal injury litigation experience in Massachusetts.
  • Hands-on experience managing litigation matters through multiple phases of a case.
  • First-chair trial experience.
  • Strong deposition, motion practice, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills.
  • Ability to independently manage a substantial caseload.
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and client communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Massachusetts court procedures and litigation requirements.
