Summary:
The Senior Legal Counsel serves as the legal expert to provide legal services in one or more legal practice areas for Campus Crusade for Christ/Cru ministry groups and subsidiaries. The person in this role provides leadership to their practice area team and participates in the General Counsel’s Office leadership team.
The Kind of Work You’ll be Doing:
Lead specialized legal area(s), and demonstrate ability and availability to provide advice and counsel in other areas of law outside area(s) of specialization.
Independently research, analyze, write, advise, issue spot, and analyze risks on legal issues and matters.
Provide counsel to executive level leadership on complex legal matters to assure compliance with applicable laws and protect ministry against legal liability.
Conduct and coordinate research, analysis, and interpretation of proposed and existing laws, statutes, and regulations as pertinent to ministry function.
Synthesize research findings and provide analysis to General Counsel, Associate General Counsel, other Attorneys and ministry leadership on relevant legal and policy issues.
Assess, identify, and address issues of legal risk in specified practice area of law and advise accordingly.
Maintain knowledge of existing laws, statutes, regulations and case law of legal areas pertinent to ministry function. Serve on the General Counsel’s Leadership Team. Possess practice area legal expertise and collaborate on matters in some other practice areas.
Collaborate with outside counsel to identify, evaluate and make recommendations on complex legal issues.
Oversee and manage projects and workflow of the practice area team to ensure achievement of operational results.
Write, review and edit reports, opinions, correspondence, articles and other documents.
Write and administer corporate governance documents, business contracts and other legal documents.
Provide supervision to the attorneys, subject area paralegals, and legal specialists including planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Serve on the General Counsel’s Leadership Team.
Assist Associate General Counsel in choosing how the General Counsel’s Office will manifest Cru values of Faith, Growth and Faithfulness in its life and work. Perform all work and lead others in alignment with Cru values and its biblical teaching. Assist Associate General Counsels in leading General Counsel’s Office spiritual life and development.

Experience and Skills:
Law school Graduate degree
7-10 years of experience in a law firm or in-house counsel environment in the practice of corporate and/or nonprofit law.
Licensed to practice law in at least one jurisdiction in the United States. Must maintain good standing with the state bar(s) of license and comply with CLE requirements for state of license and Florida, as applicable.
