Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our estate planning and probate practice. The ideal candidate will advise clients, draft estate planning documents, and manage probate and trust administration matters from start to finish. This position offers meaningful client interaction, hands-on experience, and the opportunity to grow within a specialized practice area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft estate planning documents, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, advance healthcare directives, and related instruments
  • Assist with and manage probate and trust administration matters, including court filings, asset transfers, and fiduciary guidance
  • Conduct client meetings to gather information, explain legal options, and provide ongoing counsel
  • Perform legal research and draft memoranda on estate, probate, tax, and fiduciary law issues
  • Prepare and review pleadings, petitions, and correspondence with courts, beneficiaries, and financial institutions
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and staff to ensure efficient case management
  • Maintain accurate and timely case documentation and billing entries
  • Stay current on changes in estate planning, probate, and trust law

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Wisconsin Bar
  • 1–5+ years of experience in estate planning, probate, or trust administration
  • Strong legal research, writing, and drafting skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-focused mindset
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple matters
  • Professional demeanor and strong ethical standards

Preferred (But Not Required)

  • Prior experience in estate planning, probate, elder law, or tax law
  • Familiarity with estate planning software and probate court procedures
  • Interest in developing long-term expertise in trusts and estates
  • LL.M. in Taxation or coursework in estate and gift taxation
