Role Overview:
We are looking for a seasoned litigator with 5+ years of commercial litigation experience for a Staff Attorney position. This opportunity is perfect for individuals passionate about consumer financial services litigation.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate on litigating and settling consumer financial services cases for financial institutions, guided by Partners in the Consumer Litigation practice group.
Handle day-to-day management of litigation and arbitration, including reviewing correspondence and pleadings, ensuring timely reporting of critical issues to the Partner.
Ensure all litigation deadlines are met by managing the litigation calendar, overseeing document review, supervising local counsel, and drafting pleadings and motions.
Lead in settlement negotiations, communicate with opposing counsel, prepare client settlement recommendations, and draft settlement agreements.
Represent the firm in court appearances and arbitration merits hearings as required.
Qualifications:
Demonstrate strong academic credentials, excellent writing and analytical abilities, and exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to multitask efficiently and manage interactions with opposing counsel confidently.
Preferred experience in handling arbitration matters within JAMS or AAA, defending financial institutions and commercial clients against consumer protection, banking, privacy law claims, and/or bankruptcy court experience (including adversary proceedings).
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school is mandatory.
Active bar membership in good standing in California is required.
