Job Summary:

The Associate Attorney will manage a high volume of mass tort cases, working alongside Partners and independently on assigned cases. Tasks include drafting legal documents, conducting depositions, and performing legal research for each case. The ideal applicant has at least four years of litigation experience, preferably with practice in mass tort cases. A background in general litigation will be considered depending on experience. This candidate should be a self-starter with practical and technical expertise, looking to enjoy the support and reputation of a respected Firm.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • At times there may be a student law clerk whom you will be asked to oversee in their daily tasks.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Handles plaintiff cases, with an emphasis on mass tort.
  • Prepares correspondence and legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements for negotiations and proceedings.
  • Conducts legal research, prepares for and attends hearings and/or other legal proceedings, and provides legal counsel.
  • Analyzes conflicts in legal matters, advises clients on solutions, and negotiates on behalf of clients.
  • Communicates with attorneys, paralegals, and clients to ensure cases are handled efficiently.
  • Maintains client files in an organized fashion to ensure up-to-date information is available for other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
  • Interviews and deposes witnesses and further facilitates the discovery process.
  • Maintains knowledge of legal developments, including completion of continuing legal education.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school required.
  • Active state bar membership in good standing.
  • Must be eligible and willing to seek admission pro hac vice nationally.
  • Four years or more of litigation experience preferred.
  • Experience in preparing cases for trial including analyzing and determining proper exhibit lists, witness lists, motions in limine and trial brief is a plus.

Physical and Location Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be willing to travel periodically
  • Outside of periodic travel this position is 100% remote

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
