Overview:

This person is responsible for managing and coordinating the quality management program for the Department of Pathology, including compliance with all regulatory bodies and accreditating agencies. The person will ensure the standardization and implementation of all policies and procedures.

Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public. Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. • Other Requirements: Must be able to coordinate group activities including planning, implementation, review and documentation of such activities.
Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Education and Work Experience:
Must possess a high school diploma or GED
BS and MT/MLS (ASCP) or equivalent or eligible.
Minimum of 5 years laboratory experience with 2 years experience with quality improvement.
One of the following:
A B.S. and successful completion of an accredited MT/MLS program
A B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, or other laboratory based Science including a Laboratory training program or accredited by the ABHES, NAACLS or HHS sanctioned reviewer, ASCP accreditation or equivalent
A B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, or other laboratory based Science degree that includes 60 semester hours of medical lab technology courses or other sciences as specified by CLIA. Prior experience in a licensed Clinical laboratory preferred.
Experience with more than one lab specialty preferred.
Must be knowledgeable of standards for CAP, CLIA, COMAR, AABB, FDA and Joint Commission.
