Lozeau Drury LLP, a seven-lawyer environmental law firm based in Oakland, is seeking an energetic, smart, team player to assist us in investigating and pursuing pro-environment matters on behalf of non-profit environmental organizations, neighborhood groups and labor unions. Responsibilities include preparing, proofing, and filing legal documents, assisting in reviewing and preparing administrative records, drafting letters, conducting legal research, conducting factual investigations, maintaining case files, and tracking case calendars. Must also be willing to assist from time to time in other administrative and support tasks, including answering phones and occasional administrative assistance.
Experienced legal assistants encouraged to apply, but we are also interested in talking to entry-level applicants with the required software and clerical skills and encourage them to apply.
The position requires the ability to prepare and organize documents as well as strong investigatory skills to assist in field and document investigations. in addition, we are looking for the following in a candidate:
A well-organized self-starter with the ability to multi-task.
Must have strong proof-reading and verbal communication skills.
Must have excellent computer skills (MS Word, Adobe Professional, Excel, Google Docs).
Must be able to effectively prioritize and complete tasks under strict deadlines.
Must be able to prepare accurate tables of content and tables of authorities, proofread, and cite check briefs and other documents, or be able to learn these skills.
Should be familiar with or be able to learn California state and federal court rules, court filings, and e-filing.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
