Job Overview
A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its office in Plano, Texas. The ideal candidate will have 2‑3 years of litigation experience, with a preference for those familiar with tort, professional liability, homeowner’s association, labor/employment, or construction defect matters. This role requires maintaining client confidentiality and working collaboratively within a team.
Duties
- Provide initial analysis and develop case strategy.
- Prepare and respond to discovery.
- Take and defend depositions, draft motions, and attend hearings.
- Explain legal options to clients and highlight potential outcomes or threats.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients.
- Negotiate, research, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA‑accredited law school.
- In good standing and able to practice law in Texas.
- Strong critical thinking skills and solid academic background.
- Urgency in problem‑solving, meeting deadlines, and achieving goals.
- Knowledgeable, attentive, and proactive.
- Excellent communicator, negotiator, public speaker, and problem solver.
- Self‑motivated and goal‑oriented with a track record of meeting billable hours goals.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Detail‑oriented, organized, and effective.
- Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook; experience with iManage and/or One Drive is a plus.
Education
- Juris Doctor degree.
