Associate Attorney – Immigration Law

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our growing immigration law team in Houston, Texas. This position will focus primarily on immigration removal defense, representing clients before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) and handling related matters before USCIS.

The ideal candidate has strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills, is comfortable managing an active caseload, and is eager to learn and grow professionally. This position offers meaningful courtroom experience and the opportunity to work alongside an experienced and collaborative legal team.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before EOIR, including Master Calendar Hearings, Individual Hearings, and bond proceedings.
  • Manage an active caseload and develop effective case strategies.
  • Draft and file motions, briefs, applications, and other legal documents before EOIR, BIA, USCIS, and other applicable agencies.
  • Conduct legal research and evaluate clients’ eligibility for available forms of immigration relief.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings, interviews, and testimony.
  • Handle adjustment-of-status matters, including arriving aliens with pending I-485 applications and Cuban Adjustment Act cases when applicable.
  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding case developments and legal options.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants to ensure cases are properly prepared and deadlines are met.
  • Maintain accurate case records in the firm’s case management system.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active license in good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 2+ years of immigration law experience preferred, particularly removal defense before EOIR.
  • Experience with detained and non-detained removal proceedings preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, case-management, and courtroom advocacy skills.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required.
  • Admission to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas (SDTX) preferred, or willingness and eligibility to seek admission.
  • Must currently reside in the Greater Houston, Texas area.
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and grow within the firm’s immigration practice.

Pay: $70,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
