Burnham & Gorokhov, PLLC, is a law firm focusing on federal criminal defense in Washington, DC. The firm is seeking a recent graduate, alum, or third year student to assist the firm’s partners in all aspects of their cases.
This is a position that offers substantive experience with a diverse and interesting range of matters. Recent representative matters include: a cross-border prosecution involving the largest cryptocurrency hack and asset seizure in US history, a prosecution involving violations of international sanctions, and a prosecution involving allegations of health care fraud and wire fraud in the context of government contracts.
Job responsibilities:
• Researching and analyzing legal issues and helping to develop case
strategy
• Drafting substantive motions, briefs, and sentencing submissions
• Discovery review
• Assisting subpoenas and other aspects of investigations
• Assisting in preparation for court hearings and trials
Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates with strong legal research and writing skills, and a record of excellent academic performance in law school. Coursework in criminal law, criminal procedure, and evidence, and law journal experience strongly preferred.
Full time telework is available, but you would still need to live within the local commuting area and be available to come in to the office or attend court proceedings on an as-needed basis.
