Are you a driven litigator looking to develop your career alongside a highly regarded insurance litigation team?

Kennedys is seeking a talented Associate with 1-4 years’ post-qualification experience to join our growing Perth office. This is an outstanding opportunity to work closely with Jonathan Wyatt, Partner, and gain exposure to complex, high-value disputes for major insurers, corporates and government clients.

The Opportunity

This role is ideal for a lawyer who genuinely enjoys litigation and wants to build their career in a practice that offers autonomy, responsibility and direct client exposure from the outset.

Working as part of a collaborative and high-performing team, you will advise on a broad range of insurance and commercial disputes, managing matters through all stages of the litigation process.

You Will Have The Opportunity To

  • Act on complex litigated matters across State and Federal jurisdictions
  • Develop and execute litigation strategies
  • Draft pleadings, witness statements, submissions and advices
  • Manage discovery, evidence gathering and court processes
  • Attend mediations, hearings and settlement conferences
  • Work directly with sophisticated insurer and corporate clients
  • Build strong client relationships and contribute to business development initiatives

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • 1-4 years’ PQE gained within a reputable litigation practice
  • Strong technical litigation skills and a genuine passion for dispute resolution
  • Experience managing matters through the court process
  • Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills
  • A proactive and commercial approach to client service
  • The confidence to take ownership of matters whilst working collaboratively within a team
  • A desire to learn from experienced practitioners and continue developing your career in insurance litigation

This role would suit a lawyer who considers themselves a “true litigator” and enjoys the strategic, fast-paced nature of contentious matters.
