You Will Be Responsible For

assisting in the providing legal advice and support on construction related matters to the Authority’s Projects Division and other Departments involved in the Authority’s construction programme;

advising on the drafting, reviewing, and negotiation of construction related legal documents, construction contracts, consultancy agreements, insurance and intellectual property matters related to construction works, financial and commercial issues related to real estate development and infrastructure works and related legal issues;

providing support for the on-going construction-related disputes, including mediation, arbitration, and litigation matters; and

collaborating with in-house lawyers, external solicitors, counsel, and consultants to resolve construction-related disputes, including instructing and managing external law firms and consultants, and monitoring their performance to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.

You Should

be well-motivated and interested in working as an in-house lawyer ideally in a high-profile public authority, specialising in construction related legal work;

have 1 to 3 years post-qualification experience as a solicitor or a barrister practicing in Hong Kong or another recognised common law jurisdiction as stipulated in Schedule 2 of the Legal Officers Ordinance;

have legal experience in the formation and vetting of construction contracts and related dispute resolution procedures would be an advantage;

have experience with Government construction projects would also be an advantage;

have excellent command of English and Cantonese;

demonstrate excellent analytical and interpersonal skills and be able to work under pressure and to provide solid support to the team; and

candidates with less experience but demonstrated expertise in construction law, strong academic achievements, or performance in dispute resolution or contract management will also be considered.
