Assistant General Counsel – Leading Data Center Developer

A leading data center developer is seeking a highly skilled and business-oriented Assistant General Counsel to join its in-house legal team. This individual will work directly with the General Counsel and business team to play a critical role in supporting the company’s global development efforts.

The company is a pioneer in data center development, with over two decades of successful operation. It currently owns and/or operates 12 data center facilities across the U.S. serving Fortune 100 clients and is actively developing 11 additional facilities.

Key Details

Title: Assistant General Counsel

Location: Dallas/Ft. Worth, or remote

Travel: Occasional travel to company headquarters in Dallas (if remote) and to development sites

Experience Level: 5+ years post-JD experience

Reports To: General Counsel

Key Responsibilities

Serve as lead counsel on real estate transactions involving data center development, including site acquisition, construction, leasing, procurement, and financing

Draft, negotiate, and manage commercial agreements, including lease agreements, development agreements, procurement agreements, vendor contracts, and construction contracts

Collaborate cross-functionally with development, operations, finance, HR, IT, compliance and executive leadership teams

Provide strategic legal guidance on complex projects involving joint ventures, structured financings, and regulatory issues

Support ongoing development efforts by interfacing with outside counsel, counterparties, and capital partners

Assist in establishing and implementing legal processes and policies as the business scales

Ideal Candidate Profile

JD from a top-tier law school and licensed to practice law in the US

5+ years of relevant legal experience (law firm and/or in-house)

Strong foundation in real estate law, with significant experience in development, construction, acquisitions, leasing, and financing

Experience with data center or infrastructure development is a plus but not required

Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage outside counsel, and interface with business stakeholders

Strong commercial instincts and a collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset
