Assistant Director – Life & Health Insurance (Regulatory Compliance)
Full-Time | $85,000 Salary
A growing regulatory organization is seeking an Assistant Director – Life & Health Insurance to help oversee insurance filings, regulatory compliance, and product review activities within the Life & Health division.
This leadership role works closely with actuarial and regulatory teams to ensure Life & Health insurance products, forms, and rates comply with state regulations while supporting policy development and regulatory initiatives. The Assistant Director will also supervise analysts responsible for reviewing Life & Health insurance filings.
This position is ideal for professionals with experience in insurance regulation, product filings, rate analysis, compliance, or insurance product oversight who are looking to move into a leadership role.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the review and regulatory compliance of Life & Health insurance filings, including forms and rates
- Analyze legislation and regulatory updates affecting insurers and consumers
- Draft and review regulations, bulletins, guidance documents, and departmental policies
- Evaluate product performance metrics, loss trends, and rate adequacy to support regulatory recommendations
- Collaborate with actuarial teams and regulatory leadership on product strategy and compliance initiatives
- Ensure Life & Health insurance products and rate filings comply with state regulations and regulatory requirements
- Draft and revise policy forms, endorsements, product specifications, and regulatory guidelines
- Monitor state and federal regulatory changes impacting Life & Health insurance products
- Participate in the development of product strategies, filings, enhancements, and regulatory initiatives
- Supervise and evaluate the Form and Rate Analyst (Life & Health) position
- Develop reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate product performance and regulatory risks
- Support quality assurance activities related to product implementation and system configuration
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance, public policy, law, or related field, OR equivalent professional experience
AND one of the following:
- 3+ years of management or supervisory experience in insurance, compliance, regulatory oversight, or related field
- 7+ years of professional experience in insurance, compliance, regulatory analysis, or insurance product oversight including leadership responsibility
- Experience reviewing insurance filings, forms, rates, or regulatory compliance programs
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of insurance regulatory frameworks and compliance standards
- Understanding of Life & Health insurance products, forms, and rate filings
- Ability to analyze complex laws, regulations, and policy requirements
- Experience drafting policies, regulatory guidance, and compliance documentation
- Strong skills in regulatory analysis, risk assessment, and compliance monitoring
- Ability to manage multiple projects and regulatory priorities simultaneously
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Compensation
- Salary: $85,000 annually
