Assistant Director, Legal Operations Jobs in Houston, TX at Texas Southern University

Our firm is seeking an attorney licensed in Florida to assist with federal court litigation, legal drafting, and settlement approval processes involving minors.
Education law experience is preferred but can be trained.
Federal litigation experience is required.
The ideal candidate must be competent in handling Minor’s Compromise Petitions under Florida law, with particular familiarity with practices in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach County courts.

Requirements:

Active Florida Bar license
Excellent legal writing and research skills
Experience in federal litigation (motions, discovery, trial prep)
Experience or strong familiarity with minor’s settlement procedures and court approval processes in South Florida
Reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently

Preferred but not required:

Knowledge of education law (student rights, special education, school discipline, Title IX)
Experience handling settlements involving structured annuities, guardianships, and court-required filings for minors

Position Details:

Remote flexibility with possible in-person hearings or filings as needed
1099 contractor position initially, with potential for growth
Competitive hourly or flat rates depending on experience
