Role Description The Assistant will support the daily operations of the law office in a full-time, on-site role based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Responsibilities include organizing and maintaining client files, preparing and formatting documents, scheduling appointments, and coordinating meetings. The Assistant will handle phone, email, and in-person inquiries, assist with client intake procedures, and support lawyers with basic research and administrative tasks. The role also involves data entry, maintaining office supplies, and ensuring that the reception and meeting areas are orderly and professional. The Assistant is expected to follow confidentiality standards, manage time effectively, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth office functioning.
Qualifications

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, including file management, scheduling, and document preparation.
  • Proficiency in office software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, email, and document management tools).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of Amharic or other local languages is an advantage.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, document formatting, and record keeping.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Professional demeanor, client-focused attitude, and ability to interact respectfully with diverse clients and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and ethical handling of sensitive information.
  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a law office or professional services environment is an asset but not mandatory.
