Description
:
This course covers liability for negligence and intentional torts, and it may include interference with interests in personality, property, reputation, economic and domestic relationships. It may also include products liability, automobile accident compensation, liability of occupiers of land, strict liability, nuisance, misrepresentation and vicarious liability. In addition, as a small group course in the first-year program, additional time is allocated for teaching activities enabling students to develop legal writing and research skills in the context of the substantive subject matter.

Requirements:
The Common Law Section is seeking candidates who are leaders in the legal profession. An LL.B. or, J.D. from a Canadian law school, or equivalent is required for this position. Membership in the Law Society of Ontario, or equivalent, in good standing is an asset. The successful candidate will have significant experience in tort law. The successful candidate will also have significant experience in teaching legal reasoning, writing and research.
Prior teaching experience will be considered an asset.
The Common Law Section reserves the right to select a candidate who does not fully meet each of these requirements, where the candidate’s selection would be beneficial to the program, the course, the students or for a related reason.
Additional Information and/or Comments:
This course runs through both the fall and winter sessions and candidates will be required to teach as per the schedule in both sessions.
An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
