The Department Advocate’s Office seeks a qualified Agency Attorney I to assist with operations.
Under supervision, with some latitude for independent judgment and unreviewed action and decision, performs legal work involving investigation and prosecution of misconduct by uniformed employees of the Police Department. Duties include research and preparation of legal memoranda after reviewing investigative files, which are then presented to the Executive Staff for final determination and adjudication.

WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday-Friday; 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Minimum Qualifications:
Admission to the New York State Bar; and either:
One year of satisfactory U.S. legal experience after admission; or
Six months of service as an Agency Attorney Intern.
Incumbents must remain members of the NY State Bar in good standing. Candidates may be assigned to different levels based on experience and legal expertise in relevant areas.
Preferred Skills: Strong policy and analytical skills, excellent reasoning and investigative abilities, thorough legal knowledge, outstanding communication skills, ability to multitask, evaluate case investigations, and determine evidence strength. Residency in NYC is not required.
