Job Summary

We are a local family investment company based in the DFW area, seeking a part-time in-house/general counsel to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Real Estate, Ad Valorem Tax Disputes, Civil Litigation, and Municipal Court matters. We welcome both new and experienced litigators who possess strong legal research skills and the ability to stand firm in difficult situations, even when the outcome may seem unwinnable. Our goal is to find someone who is committed to providing high-quality legal services and can effectively manage the legal needs of our company.

Duties

Provide legal counsel on various legal matters, including real estate transactions, ad valorem tax disputes, civil litigation, and municipal court matters.
Represent the company in legal proceedings, including litigation and negotiations, ensuring that our rights and interests are well-protected.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, pleadings, motions, and other legal documents related to our areas of practice.
Conduct thorough and diligent legal research on applicable laws, regulations, and case law to support case strategies and decision-making.
Offer sound legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders, ensuring compliance and minimizing legal risks.
Prepare for court appearances and manage case files, litigation strategies, and timelines effectively.
Stand firm in difficult situations and demonstrate resilience, even when facing challenging or seemingly unwinnable cases.
Maintain thorough and accurate records of all legal matters and client interactions.
Collaborate with other attorneys and legal staff, when necessary, to ensure comprehensive representation for our company.

Experience

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Admission to the state bar association is required.
Proven experience in real estate law, ad valorem tax disputes, civil litigation, and municipal court matters is preferred, but not required for newer litigators.
Strong litigation background with the ability to navigate complex legal challenges effectively.
Expertise in legal research and a solid understanding of applicable laws and case law.
Demonstrated ability to handle high-pressure situations and stand firm when facing challenging or seemingly unwinnable cases.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Pay: $75.00 – $250.00 per hour
