Job Summary: This position is with a small, specialized firm that provides unique opportunities to balance interesting work around a full personal life. A primary focus of our practice is defending client health facilities against actions brought by state and federal administrative agencies. We also assist clients with labor and employment matters, leasing, and sale transactions, as well as collection and reimbursement activities.

Required Experience and Education: Successful applicants must be a graduate of an accredited law school with two or more years of civil and/or administrative litigation experience. Must be a licensed attorney–California license helpful but not required. Interest in health law is important—any health care work experience is a plus.

Work Schedule: There is some scheduling flexibility; part-time hours typically are between 25-30 hrs per week.

Scope of Duties: Work is assigned based on experience and can range from total case management/responsibility to assisting a senior attorney on assigned tasks that can include active participation in case management: analyzing legal allegations; legal research regarding identified issues; drafting complaints and answers; preparing discovery requests and evaluating discovery responses; drafting briefs and arguing motions; and other things as they arise.

Wages: Commiserate with experience—range fulltime: $100k-$150; parttime $50-$150 per hour

Work Location: Our full-time attorneys primarily work in our office located in the mid-Wilshire area of Los Angeles; our part-time attorneys have shared work space in our office and have some remote flexibility.

Communication Expectations: All written and verbal communication of information must be professional in a manner that is readily understood by co-workers and consistent with professional work standards as well as accurate and timely. All staff must be able to problem-solve and efficiently carry-out job duties to ensure optimal client outcomes. All staff must also be able to use IT systems and firm computer programs in a proficient manner.

Collaboration/Teamwork: All firm staff must demonstrate a courteous and respectful attitude to co-workers, clients and all others encountered in the course of employment. Each staff member is expected to contribute toward positive working relationships with co-workers, clients, and others. All staff should demonstrate cooperation, flexibility, efficiency, reliability and integrity in all daily work activities and a willingness to collaborate with others for the good of clients and the firm while also being self-motivated and able to work effectively on an independent basis.

This job regularly requires lifting, pushing, and pulling weights in excess of ten pounds independently, and some driving to local worksites of clients.
