Role Description
We are seeking a Legal & Recovery Officer for our Coimbatore operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling legal and recovery matters related to secured and unsecured loan portfolios while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle legal and recovery matters related to secured and unsecured loan portfolios.
- Draft, vet, and review loan agreements, mortgage documents, demand notices, recall notices, legal notices, affidavits, and petitions.
- Manage SARFAESI proceedings, including possession, auction, and enforcement actions.
- Handle cheque bounce cases under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.
- Coordinate arbitration proceedings and recovery litigation.
- Liaise with panel advocates, police officials, and government departments.
- Conduct legal verification of property documents and title scrutiny.
- Ensure compliance with RBI regulations and NBFC legal policies.
- Monitor court cases and maintain litigation MIS reports.
- Support branch and collection teams in legal recovery activities.
- Attend court hearings and legal follow-ups as required.
- Handle borrower disputes, settlements, and legal escalations professionally.
- Coordinate with internal departments for legal documentation and compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized institution.
- Experience in NBFC, banking, financial services, or recovery-related legal matters preferred.
- Strong knowledge of SARFAESI Act, NI Act, arbitration proceedings, and recovery laws.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and manage legal timelines effectively.
