Job Title: Assistant Law Director Clerk
Reports to: Law Director and Assistant Law Director/City Prosecutor
Employment Status: Part-Time Salary
Job Summary: Assists the Assistant Law Director/City Prosecutor by performing requested tasks to maintain the criminal case load, law enforcement inquiries, and victim inquiries and awareness.
Duties/Responsibilities:
This list is not exhaustive functions and may be supplemented as required by changes in the position requirements.
Assists in the preparation of pleadings and discovery, case management, victim advocacy, and communication with law enforcement, defense attorney and municipal court staff.
Greets attorneys and victims and answers telephone to provide assistance to the position of City Prosecutor as necessary; answers questions, provides general information, and maintains good public relations.
Files and retrieves case and court records, reports and other documents.
Types correspondence, pleadings, discovery, and other documents.
Must be a self-starter and highly organized.
All other duties as assigned by Law Director and Assistant Law Director/City Prosecutor.
Required Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of the Ohio Criminal Code, law enforcement processes, and case management skills; computer operations; Microsoft Office or other word processing applications.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with defense council, law enforcement, court staff, and general public; exercise sound judgment in dealing with the public; exhibit a pleasant public manner and phone etiquette; work precisely and accurately in dealing with pleadings and discovery.
Skill in operation of computer and other standard office equipment; routine typing; application of MS Office programs.
Contact with others: General public, defense attorneys, court staff and law enforcement.
Confidential Data: Confidential law enforcement investigation documentation and confidential matters exempt from the Ohio Open Records Law.
Education and Experience: An appropriate combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Licensure or Certification Requirements: none.
Work Schedule: 15-20 hrs/week as determined by the Assistant Law Director/City Prosecutor and approved by the Law Director.

Pay: $15.00 – $20.00 per hour
