SALARY GRADE: Flat Rated

This position is time-limited, grant funded, full-time.
Funding for this position will end on June 30, 2025, and is expected to continue for an additional year.

The District Court Division, Judicial District 5, is seeking a qualified candidate to perform a variety of administrative and case management functions for the Chief District Court Judge. This position will work closely with the District Attorney’s Office in Onslow County.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Participate fully as a Veterans Treatment (VTC) Team member, committing to the program mission and goals and working as a partner to ensure success.
Supervise a team of 3-5 employees.
Coordinate and participate in closed and open session hearings, team meetings, and management committee meetings.
Identify VTC problem areas and recommend possible solutions.
Participate in performing statistical analysis and program evaluations.
Assist in developing team resource strategy to acquire funding, assist in preparing grant applications and build linkages by supporting team in-community outreach activities.
Monitor grant deadlines and requirements.
Create supporting materials and disseminate them to stakeholders and service providers.
Create and distribute marketing materials and disseminate to participants.
Conduct initial and follow-up screenings of treatment court clients.
Manage budget and invoicing of treatment court funds in conjunction with the county veterans services office and county finance department.
Assist in compiling, writing, editing and updating VTC policy and procedures and program manuals.
Inform VTC team members of treatment court related news and training opportunities.
Periodically assist in evaluating VTC operations using the Ten Key Components of Veterans Treatment Courts and communicate findings to the treatment court team.

This position reports to the Chief District Court Judge. Work hours are 8:00AM – 5:00PM, Monday – Friday.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Knowledge of: case management and calendaring rules and procedures to administer the case tracking and calendaring system; court system and organization to effectively interact with court officials; court procedures and legal terminology to communicate with court officials and law enforcement personnel

Skills in: interpersonal skills to work with court personnel and the general public; organizational skills to monitor case activity and prepare court calendars.

Ability to: interact with a diverse group of people; work independently; and maintain confidentiality.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Graduation from a four year college or university with a degree in court administration, criminal justice, public administration, business, or a related field, and two (2) years progressive experience in the court system to acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work described; or a Master’s degree in a related field plus one (1) year in the court system; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Management prefers candidates with prior military service or familiarity with military culture and operations, and experience with grant writing and grant management.
