Bullivant Houser has an opening for an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant for our Seattle office. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of ten years of civil litigation experience.

The Litigation Legal Assistant is responsible for providing support to your assigned attorneys in the casualty litigation and insurance practice areas, as well as being a teammate to support the overall needs of the firm. This position requires exceptional legal secretarial skills, proficiency with Washington state, and federal court rules/procedures, electronic court filings, and docketing/calendaring rules.

Candidates must possess a high level of organizational skills, attention to detail, follow-through, and strong oral and written communication skills. Exceptional client service orientation, sound judgment, reliability, problem-solving skills, and the ability to remain focused in the midst of dueling priorities are necessary for the position. Strong computer skills and experience functioning in a highly technological and computer-savvy environment are also essential. Proficient with Microsoft Outlook and Word, and NetDocs a plus.

Essential Functions:

· Originate Word documents using the firm’s software protocols; transcribe dictation and/or handwritten documents.

· Prepare correspondence and legal documents such as summonses, complaints, motions, and subpoenas, etc.

· Handle editing, formatting, proofreading, and finalizing documents.

· Open new client/matters including requesting conflict checks, preparing engagement letters, creating the new matter, and entering party information into CRM database, etc.

· Schedule and coordinate meeting details for attorneys such as client and internal meetings, video conferences, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, etc.

· Follows established docketing procedures and cross-checks dates in docketing software against the attorneys’ Outlook calendars for accuracy.

· Timely submit vendor invoices, check requests, and expense reimbursements.

· Responsible for maintaining and organizing all client/matter files, which may include both electronic and physical files.

Required Qualifications:

· Minimum five (10) years of experience working as a Litigation Legal Assistant.

· Intricate knowledge of Washington state, federal, and appellate court filing rules and procedures. Experience with Oregon courts preferred but not required.

· Solid knowledge of e-filing in various federal and state jurisdictions.

· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and colleagues. 

· Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and proofreading skills.

· Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines under sometimes competing priorities.

· Ability to take an assignment from inception to completion with minimal supervision or by following broad guidelines.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook.

· Previous document management experience with NetDocuments a plus, but not required.
