An exciting and unique opportunity to achieve a life-work balance while still being challenged as a practicing litigator. A boutique plaintiff’s personal injury law firm in Brooklyn that has been in practice for over fifty (50) years is looking for a full time of counsel attorney (independent contractor). The position will be remote with flexibility in terms of hours and the ability to work from home. The position entails making some personal appearances in various Courts in the New York Metropolitan area, approximately a few times per month. There will be no requirement to come to the office. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be compensated with a 10% firm share of any case that the attorney settles and a 15% share on successful verdicts. Furthermore, the attorney receives 50% of the firm fee for any client she/he refers. The candidate must be admitted to practice in New York State.
Talisman & DeLorenz, P.C. handles various types of personal injury matters, including those involving the New York State Labor Law, motor vehicle accidents, premise liability, products liability and medical malpractice. At least two (2) years of experience in plaintiff’s personal injury practice or personal injury insurance defense is strongly preferred. The position will focus on Court appearances, depositions, legal research and memos, the drafting of motions and oppositions and review of pleadings, including summonses & complaints, bills of particulars and discovery documents. There will also be witness contact and follow-up and the opportunity to handle trials. Proficiency with Microsoft Word is a requirement and experience with the Neos docketing program and the Lexis research platform is a plus. There will be the potential to progress to full time employment at the firm.
