Company Description The Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) is an independent quality and standards organisation responsible for accrediting psychology education programs across Australia under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009. APAC develops and maintains accreditation standards for psychology programs, assesses programs against those standards, and conducts ongoing monitoring to support high-quality education and training in the psychology profession. The organisation accredits more than 1,000 programs of study across 44 higher education providers, including Australian university programs delivered internationally. Role Description The Accreditation Officer is a full-time role based in Melbourne, VIC, with a hybrid work arrangement that allows for a combination of office-based and work-from-home days. The role involves coordinating accreditation assessments of psychology programs, including preparing documentation, supporting assessment panels, and liaising with higher education providers throughout the process. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing program submissions against APAC Accreditation Standards, drafting reports and recommendations, maintaining accurate records and databases, and supporting ongoing monitoring and follow-up activities. The Accreditation Officer will work closely with colleagues to improve processes, contribute to policy and guideline development, and assist with stakeholder communications, meetings, and workshops. The position requires a collaborative, detail-focused approach and a commitment to upholding quality standards in psychology education.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and evaluation skills, including the ability to interpret standards, assess documentation, and synthesise findings into clear written reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing formal documents, correspondence, and stakeholder communications.
  • Organisational and project coordination skills, including managing timelines, tracking tasks, and maintaining accurate records across multiple concurrent accreditation activities.
  • Relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with higher education providers, colleagues, and committee members.
  • Proficiency with common office software and databases (e.g., Microsoft Office, document management systems) and comfort working in a hybrid environment using digital collaboration tools.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in psychology, education, quality assurance, health, or a related field; understanding of higher education structures and qualifications frameworks is highly regarded.
  • Experience in accreditation, quality assurance, program evaluation, or regulatory environments is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, sound judgment, ethical practice, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
