Position: Accident Benefits Litigation Clerk

Aviva Trial Lawyers is currently seeking an Accident Benefits Litigation Clerk for our Toronto / Markham / Oakville office. As an Accident Benefits Litigation Clerk, you will be responsible for supporting one lawyer in handling accident benefit matters. Familiarity with tort litigation matters is also required. This is a hybrid position involving clerking tasks and day-to-day file management.

What you’ll do :
Prepare and draft correspondence and legal documents (motion records, affidavits, memos, cost outlines, subpoenas, orders, responses to arbitration applications, accident benefits briefs, case summaries); ensure proper filing with courts/tribunals per applicable rules.
Compile books of authorities and factums.
Request and follow up on productions and undertakings.
Summarize discovery notes, transcripts, reports.
Arrange investigations, surveillance, medical examinations, and prepare related documentation.
Perform dictation, filing, scheduling, calendar management, and database updates.
Maintain electronic files and organize documentation.
Book travel arrangements as needed.
Ensure data integrity in matter management systems.
Liaise with counsel, external parties, and claims operations.
What you’ll bring :
Minimum 5+ years of legal assistant or law clerk experience in insurance defense or personal injury litigation.
Post-secondary accreditation or equivalent experience preferred.
Proficient with MS Word, ACL, Adobe, Kofax, Outlook.
Knowledge of relevant tribunal and court rules.
Ability to work in a paperless environment.
Excellent communication, organizational, and attention to detail skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Mature work ethic and good sense of humor.
