Cox Purtell is currently working with a prestigious association operating in the Legal industry who are seeking a Law Clerk responsible for providing paralegal and administrative support and referrals for the pro bono, solicitor referral and dispute resolution services, and providing administrative support to the wider department.
Key Responsibilities
Processing applications and referrals for various pro bono, dispute resolution and solicitor referral programmes including:
Opening and closing files and preparing legal correspondence
Making necessary inquiries and obtaining relevant documentation for individual applications
Providing administrative and paralegal support for Pro Bono matters being conducted by the Solicitor on an in-house basis including but not limited to: drafting legal documents and communications and preparing briefs to counsel.
Liaising with applicants to the service and those in need of legal support (often vulnerable people) via phone, email and face-to-face
Referring matters to law firms, liaising with practitioners and the Courts and preparing referral documentation.
Providing administrative support for Pro Bono matters being conducted in-house
Keeping the relevant templates, application forms and marketing material up to date
Processing payments
Conducting conflict checks
Essential Competencies
Legal qualifications are highly desirable.
High level administrative and computing skills in word processing, email, electronic diary, electronic filing and internet applications.
Excellent attention to detail.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to accurately draft legal documentation.
Experience with databases, mainly searching and inputting data.
Comfortable using both the database and telephone simultaneously.
High level appreciation of and commitment to customer service.
Must be resilient and adaptable.
Experience working in the legal field is preferred but not mandatory.
