Weekley | Schulte | Valdes | Murman | Tonelli is currently seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal for its office in Tampa. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant paralegal experience, with a strong background in insurance defense litigation. The applicant must have experience in case management, document production, working with experts, review of medical records, medical chronologies, discovery investigation, discovery responses, trial preparation, trial exhibit preparation, trial attendance, and experience working with State and Federal courts. The position requires exceptional oral and written skills, the ability to manage and prioritize large volume of caseload, working in a team environment, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information related to cases and clients. Prior billing experience is preferred; all candidates must bill their time contemporaneously in accordance with firm and client billing guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Summarizes records, court files, and depositions.

· Reviews and summarize third-party and client documents.

· Research sources such as statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, constitutions, and public records.

· Tracks and monitors cases and documents for ongoing litigation matters.

· Coordinate and schedule calendars.

· Compiles documents responsive to discovery requests and attends document productions.

· Drafts, prepares and performs limited reviews of legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, discovery materials, appeals, and contracts.

· Assists in trial preparation and discovery practices such as gathering and organizing exhibits, trial data, documents, and other materials in response to subpoenas, discovery requests, interrogatories, motions for summary judgments, etc.

· Serves as a limited liaison between counsel, clients, experts, witnesses, third parties, and other outside contacts.

· Keeps current with procedures used by local, state, and federal courts.

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree, Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent work experience

· Minimum of 5 years of litigation paralegal experience

· Prior trial experience in personal injury litigation, including handling cases from inception through trial

· Prior billing experience with contemporaneous time entry required

· Strong understanding of Florida Rules of Civil Procedure and e-filing procedures

· Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills

· Ability to travel as needed

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines

· Team player

· Bilingual: English/Spanish (Preferred)

Job Type: Full-time

Expected Hours: 40 hours a week

Schedule: Monday to Friday (8am to 5pm)

Pay: $60,000.00 – $66,363.00 per year
