Property Tax Litigation Paralegal

Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Property Tax Litigation Paralegal to join our team. This role involves overseeing the firm’s Illinois Property Tax Appeal (PTAB) filings, coordinating with the administrative appeal teams, and providing support in preparing for hearings and settlement negotiations. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, possess strong writing skills, and have an ability to balance priorities and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Must be focused, motivated, positive and personable.

Essential Functions:

Manage and maintain the firm’s Illinois Property Tax Appeal (PTAB) filing docket, ensuring all deadlines are met.
Coordinate with administrative appeal teams to guarantee that all appeals are timely filed.
Prepare property tax appeals for filing, including review and drafting of necessary documents.
File appeals in a timely manner and ensure proper follow-up.
Review and track notices relating to filed appeals to ensure compliance and respond to any outstanding issues.
Assist attorneys in preparing for settlement negotiations and hearing preparation.
Communicate with clients regarding the status of their property tax appeals and other relevant updates.
Track the status of ongoing appeals and maintain up-to-date information in the firm’s database.
Provide support to assigned attorney(s) and paralegal(s) as required.

Qualifications:

Experience with state and local property tax appeals is preferred
Prefer 2 or more years of experience in a legal working environment
Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
Ability to understand and balance competing priorities, ensuring deadlines are met.
Basic proficiency in math for handling property tax-related calculations.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe.
Able to take direction while exercising sound judgment and independent thought
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Possess a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills
Able to work full-time and flexible/overtime hours if needed/requested to meet deadlines

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 – $38.00 per hour
