Madison Energy Infrastructure (“MEI”) believes in the power of clean energy infrastructure and has quickly emerged as a preeminent developer, investor, asset owner, and operator of distributed generation. This role represents a critical next step in MEI’s evolution toward offering direct, end-to-end services to Fortune 500 corporates, public entities, nonprofits, and other private customers alike.

We are seeking a Legal Summer Associate to support our in-house legal team during the summer. This position offers hands-on experience in energy law, regulatory compliance, property law, and corporate legal matters. The ideal candidate will be a law student interested in renewable energy, environmental law, property law or corporate governance.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Assisting with legal research on renewable energy regulations, environmental policies and industry trends.

Assisting in reviewing, drafting, reviewing, and analyzing legal contracts including membership interest purchase agreements, construction contracts, power purchase agreements (PPAs), supplier contracts, leases, easements, and joint venture agreements.

Assisting with permitting and land use matters including research on zoning

Assisting with ad hoc projects as needed

What We Are Looking For:

Currently enrolled in an accredited law school (2L or 3L)

Strong legal research and analytical skills

Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Interest in the solar industry

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to build strong interpersonal relationships

Compensation:

$40 per hour

Location & Hours:

This is a hybrid role that is based in our Richmond, VA or McLean, VA office, with a required 40-hours per week; 4 days in office and 1 day remote.
