Description
AliExpress seeks an experienced compliance professional to be our Korea Compliance Officer within its global Compliance and Risk Management team. This senior role will help design and implement compliance policies tailored to Korea’s regulatory landscape, ensuring adherence to local laws (e.g., data protection, product safety) while safeguarding platform integrity. The officer will act as the headquarters’ primary compliance liaison in Korea, collaborating closely with local teams to align strategies with regional requirements and mitigate risks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Policy Development & Regulatory Compliance
• Coordinate with the Government Affairs (GA) team and Legal team to interpret Korean regulations and formulate actionable policies and procedures.
• Serve as the primary point of compliance contact during regulation audits, investigations, or inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
• Improve compliance monitoring frameworks, audit processes and penalty policy to reduce risks.
2. Stakeholder Communication
• Regularly brief senior leadership on material compliance risks and prepare summaries for the compliance committee.
• Partner with cross-functional teams (Global Legal, Global Compliance etc.) to align local strategies with global standards.
Qualifications:
1. Experience:
• 5+ years in compliance/risk management in e-commerce or tech.
• Deep expertise in Korean regulations (e.g., data protection, consumer product safety etc.).
2. Language:
• Native or near-native proficiency in Korean and English; experience drafting regulatory submissions preferred.
3. Skills:
• Proven track record in resolving ambiguous compliance challenges.
• Strong analytical ability (e.g., SQL/Python for data-driven decisions).
• Cross-functional collaboration and strategic decision-making.
